One month to go until Regulating the Game 2026 Sydney

Regulating the Game Sydney 2026 kicks off in just one month, running from March 9 to 11 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

The event will bring together regulators, policymakers, operators, and technology leaders to focus on gambling regulation, compliance, integrity, and safer gambling.

Now in its sixth edition, the conference examines how regulatory frameworks, market structures, and organisational practices operate in practice. It will also explore how regulatory intent translates into operational reality and how industry systems, governance, and behaviours are evolving amid heightened scrutiny and reform.

The three-day program is structured to move from context to analysis to application, offering an in-depth look at how gambling regulation, market design, organisational capability, and leadership shape real-world outcomes.

It will cover the strategic direction of gambling regulation, enforcement, and supervision, including how regulatory posture is evolving following inquiries and reform. The conference will examine the operational realities of compliance, such as AML/CTF supervision, financial crime risk, and the challenges of implementation.

Additionally, safer gambling governance, consumer protection frameworks, and the application of RegTech at scale will also be explored, alongside market structures, black and grey market dynamics, and the unintended consequences of regulatory design choices.

The program will address the role of technology, data governance, and AI in supporting integrity, oversight, and organisational decision-making, while highlighting the importance of leadership, accountability, culture, and the capability needed to translate policy intent into durable operational outcomes.

The program includes keynotes, panels, masterclasses, and Industry Spotlight sessions.

The conference will also host the first RTG Global Awards, recognising leadership and impact across compliance, safer gambling, technology, and community outcomes. Finalists have been selected by an independent panel of senior sector leaders. The Awards Gala Dinner will showcase winners and bring together sector stakeholders.

Complementing the conference is Pitch!, Regulating the Game’s forum for emerging and established approaches to regulatory, compliance, and safer gambling challenges. Pitch! highlights research, technologies, operating models, and innovative solutions being tested or deployed in regulated environments, showcasing how innovation is governed and scaled alongside existing systems.

Paul Newson, Founder of Regulating the Game and Principal at Vanguard Overwatch, said the 2026 program reflects the maturity of the current regulatory environment.

Regulating the Game exists to engage honestly with how gambling regulation, sector performance and organisational capability intersect in practice - not just policy intent, but how expectations are interpreted, implemented and sustained over time,” he said.
