Dr Sally Gainsbury

Director, Professor of Psychology, Gambling Treatment & Research Clinic, University of Sydney

Professor Sally Gainsbury is Director of Australia’s only university-affiliated gambling treatment clinic and leader of the Technology Addiction Team within the School of Psychology and University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Clinic. With over 16 year’s experience conducting research to understand the psychology of gambling, her work has focused on developing and evaluating policies and practices to reduce gambling harms. Professor Gainsbury has an extensive track record of working with government, industry, and community organisations and her research has contributed to real world changes and interventions reducing gambling problems in Australia and internationally. She is the Editor of the leading gambling academic journal, International Gambling Studies, holds numerous invited appointments on advisory boards, and has published over 120 academic articles and several books.
